Grants available for stories on Adriatic’s marine environment [Western Balkans, Italy]

Journalists from Western Balkan countries that border the Adriatic Sea are eligible for grants.

Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is offering story grants to support reporting on the marine environment in the Adriatic region. Grants will support the production of in-depth reporting on current and emerging marine issues in the Adriatic Sea, with a focus on the Western Balkans.

In-depth reporting on the marine environment in the Adriatic region will include illegal, under-reported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, pollution, coastal development issues and the biodiversity crisis—as well as solutions to the climate and environmental threats confronting this ecosystem.

Approximately 10 grants up to EUR1,200 each will be awarded.

Journalists from inland Balkan countries and Italy are also eligible to apply.

The deadline is March 13.
